01the architecture
Architected a mobile-first video streaming platform using Flutter and the Agora SDK for ultra-low latency real-time communication. Implemented a custom caching layer to preload videos in the feed, ensuring a TikTok-like scroll experience. The backend leveraged Firebase Realtime Database for instant state synchronization across clients, and I integrated complex state management to maintain a strict 60FPS UI during heavy video decoding.
02battle scars
The primary challenge was managing memory and battery consumption while rendering multiple video players in a scrollable list. I solved this by implementing a highly optimized view-recycling mechanism and aggressively pausing off-screen video controllers. Additionally, handling network degradation required writing custom reconnection logic for the Agora signaling channels.
03the harvest
The new video-first approach reduced average candidate screening time by 40% and increased engagement metrics by 3x compared to the legacy text-resume system. This project deepened my expertise in low-level Flutter rendering pipelines and real-time WebRTC architectures.
